Four Pronouncements of Hope:
Cuatro Pronunciamientos de Esperanza:

• “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ …” (v. 3^a)
• “Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo…”  (v. 3a)

Peter’s prayer  of praise sounds very similar to the Hebrew prayer called Shemoneh ‘Esreh, which means eighteen blessings, which is divided into three general types:
La oración de alabanza de Pedro suena muy similar a la oración hebrea llamada Shemoneh ‘Esreh, que significa dieciocho bendiciones, que se divide en tres tipos generales:

1. Praise: the first three of the eighteen blessings.
   Alabanza: las primeras tres de ocho bendiciones.
2. Petitions: which are the next thirteen blessings
   Peticiones: las cuales son las próximas trece bendiciones.
3. Thanks: which are last three blessings
   Gracias: que son las últimas tres bendiciones

These were recited forty-four times a day from the house of God.
Estos se recitaban cuarenta y cuatro veces al día desde la casa de Dios.

• “According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead …” (v. 3^b)
• “…según Su gran misericordia, nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo a una esperanza viva, mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo de entre los muertos” (v. 3^b)

Peter reminds us that our hope to reach our eternal destination is rooted in God’s mercy and is grounded in one great truth; “… born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead …”
Pedro nos recuerda que nuestra esperanza de alcanzar nuestro destino eterno tiene sus raíces en la misericordia de Dios y se basa en una gran verdad; “…nacidos de nuevo a una esperanza viva, mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo de entre los muertos…”

• “… to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading kept in heaven for you …” (v. 4)
• “…una herencia incorruptible, inmaculada, y que no se marchitará, reservada en los cielos para ustedes.” (v. 4)

What is this inheritance, the living hope to which we have been “born again”, going to look like?
¿Cuál es esta herencia, la esperanza viva a la que hemos sido “nacido de nuevo”?, ¿cómo se verá?

1. It’s kept in heaven for us. Our inheritance is, in a word, heaven. It’s the sum total of all God has promised us in salvation.
   Está guardado en el cielo para nosotros. Nuestra herencia es, en una palabra, cielo. Es la suma total de todo lo que Dios nos ha prometido en la salvación.
2. It’s imperishable! It will not be destroyed.
   ¡Es imperecedero! No será destruido.
3. It’s undefiled! It’s not polluted.
   ¡Es incorruptible! no está contaminado.
4. It’s unfading! It’s not subject to decay.
   ¡Es resistente! No esta sujeto al deterioro.

• “… who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (v. 5)
• “..son protegidos por el poder de Dios, para la salvación que está preparada para ser revelada en el último tiempo.” (v. 5)

Rest assured that God keeps His promises!
¡Tenga la seguridad de que Dios cumple sus promesas!

So, What Do We Need To Do?
¿Entonces que debemos hacer?

1. We need to rise up and bless God. (v. 3)
   Necesitamos levantarnos y bendecir a Dios (v. 3).
2. We need to anchor our living hope on the resurrection of Christ. (v. 3)
   Necesitamos anclar nuestra esperanza viva en la resurrección de Cristo. (v. 3)
3. We need to remember our inheritance that’s waiting for us. (v. 4)
   Necesitamos recordar nuestra herencia que nos espera. (v.4)
4. We need to live with assurance of our salvation in Christ. (v. 5)
   Necesitamos vivir con la seguridad de nuestra salvación en Cristo. (v.5)
