Building Godly Character At Work

Godly character is defined as strength of moral fiber.

“… real maturity is that measure of development which is meant by ‘the fullness of Christ.’”  (Ephesians 4:13) [Ph]

How God Uses Your “Workplace” To Build Godly Character In You:

  • God uses pressure to teach you to be responsible. “Live life, then, with a due sense of responsibility, not as people who do not know the meaning of life, but as those who do.”  (Ephesians 5:15) [Ph]

Four Ways You Can Develop Responsibility:

  1. Keep your promises. “But let your word ‘yes’ be ‘yes,’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no.’ Anything more than this is from the evil one.” (Matthew 5:37)
  1. Meet your deadlines. “The one who is truly lazy in his work is brother to a vandal.” (Proverbs 18:9)
  1. Do your job without having to be supervised. 6 Don’t work only while being watched, in order to please men, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart. 7 Serve with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men …” (Ephesians 6:6-7)
  1. Be a good steward of what’s been entrusted to you. 11If you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of Heaven? 12And if you are not faithful with other people’s money, why should you be entrusted with money of our own?” (Luke 16:11-12) [LB]
  • God uses problems to teach me character. 3 And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, 4 endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.(Romans 5:3-4)
  • God uses people to teach me how to really love. “Do all your work in love.”  (1 Corinthians 16:14) [GNT]

Five Types of People That Are Hard To Love:

Demanding           Dishonest

Disagreeable Defensive

Demeaning

16 Be in agreement with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Try to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. 18 If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.  (Romans 12:16-18)
“For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints—and you continue to serve them. For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints—and you continue to serve them.” (Hebrews 6:10)
