Are You Faithful To HIS Church?

17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18a And he is the head of the body, the church.” (Colossians 1:17-18a)

Noticeable Relationship Between The “Head” and The “Body” :

  • Christ is the head of the church.

“And he (Jesus Christ) is the head of the body, the church.” (Colossians 1:18a)

  • We are the body of Christ.

“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)

  • The body is submissive to the head.

22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.” (Ephesians 1:22-23)

  • We ought to love what Christ loves.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her …” (Ephesians 5:22-25)

  • Christ provides for His church.

“But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.” (1 Corinthians 11:3)

9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.” (Colossians 2:9-10)

“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates  of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

  • The Church is Christ’s change agent in the world.

8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.”  (Ephesians 3:8-10)
