“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

Peace with God: the Need, the Way, the Requirement

• The need for peace with God.

“¹⁸ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. ¹⁹ For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. ²⁰ For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. ²¹ For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. ²² Claiming to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.” (Romans 1:18-23)

“¹⁰ For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. ¹¹ More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” (Romans 5:10-11)

“²³ … for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ²⁴ and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. ²⁶ It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”(Romans 3:23-26)

Benefits of Having Peace with God:
Beneficios de Tener Paz con Dios

Peace of God.
“²⁰ But the wicked are like the tossing sea; for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up mire and dirt. ²¹ There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” (Isaiah 57:20-21)

Paz de Dios.
“²⁰ Pero los impíos son como el mar agitado, Que no puede estar quieto, Y sus aguas arrojan cieno y lodo. ²¹ «No hay paz», dice mi Dios, «para los impíos».” (Isaias 57:20-21)

Peace with yourself.
“⁵ Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; ⁶ do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philipians 4:5-7)

Paz contigo mismo.
“⁵ La bondad de ustedes sea conocida de todos los hombres. El Señor está cerca. ⁶ Por nada estén afanosos; antes bien, en todo, mediante oración y súplica con acción de gracias, sean dadas a conocer sus peticiones delante de Dios. ⁷ Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, guardará sus corazones y sus mentes en Cristo Jesús.” (Filipenses 4:5-7)

Peace with others.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
 “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”(Romans 12:18)

Paz con otros.
“Bienaventurados los que procuran la paz, pues ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios.” (Mateo 5:9)
