“ 12 Speak and act as those who will be judged by the law of freedom. 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who hasn’t shown mercy.  Mercy triumphs over judgment.”  (James 2:12-13 ) [HCSB]

“Whenever you speak, or whatever you do, remember that you will be judged by the law of love, the law that sets you free. So, YOU MUST SHOW MERCY TO OTHERS, or God will not show mercy to you when he judges you. But the person who shows mercy will stand without fear at the judgment, because mercy triumphs over judgment!”  (James 2:12-13  [NLT/NCV]

How Jesus Shows M.E.R.C.Y. To Those In Need:

“There were two blind men … Lord have mercy on us …”

(Matthew 20:30-34 )

  • Meet them where they’re at.  30 There were two blind men sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 31 The crowd told them to keep quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”  (Matthew 20:30-31 )
  • Engage them personally.  “Jesus stopped, called them …” (Matthew 20:32 a)
  • Regard them as valued.  “Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes.” (Matthew 20:34 )
  • Care enough to get curious. “… and said (Jesus asked), “What do you want Me to do for you?”  (Matthew 20:32 )
  • Yield to God’s leading“Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. Immediately they could see, and they followed Him.”  (Matthew 20:34 )
