When they first met, Jesus told Nicodemus that no one could enter the Kingdom of God unless they were born again. (John 3:3) Nicodemus wanted to know how. (John 3:9) But I always wondered why.
Now I understand that my sins didn’t just hurt me, they killed me. God gave me a harvest of life and I produced death.
“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)” (Ephesians 2:4-5)
We had no gift to offer – no work to trade. Yet, God wasn’t willing to give up on us.
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)
We planted rebellion, yet harvested salvation by His grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
