Rethinking My View of God

Series Theme Verse: “My child, pay attention to my words; listen closely to what I say. Don’t ever forget my words; keep them always in mind. They are the key to life for those who find them; they bring health to the whole body. Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.” (Proverbs 4:20-23) [NCV]

Today’s Text: “Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” (Romans 12:2) [NLT]

6 Ways To Change Your Life By Rethinking Your View of God:

  1. Accept His unconditional love.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) [ESV]

  1. Appreciate His holiness.

“There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.” (1 Samuel 2:2) [ESV]

“For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.” (Isaiah 57:15) (ESV)

  1. Trust His judgment.

“But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”” (Romans 9:20) [ESV]

“Be patient when you are being corrected! This is how God treats his children. Don’t all parents correct their children?” (Hebrews 12:7) [CEV]

  1. Understand His timing.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14) [ESV]

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) [ESV]

  1. Respect His strength.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2) [ESV]

“Or did you think that because he’s such a nice God, he’d let you off the hook? Better think this one through from the beginning. God is kind, but he’s not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change.” (Romans 2:4) [MSG]

  1. Enjoy His presence.

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11) [ESV]

“But God has given us his Spirit. That’s why we don’t think the same way that the people of this world think. That’s also why we can recognize the blessings that God has given us.” (1 Corinthians 2:12) [CEV]

“Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness.” (Psalm 145:3) [NLT]
