HOW TO BREAK DESTRUCTIVE PATTERNS IN YOUR LIFE

18 As He (Jesus) was walking along the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen. 19 “Follow Me,” He told them, “and I will make you fish for people! 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.” (Matthew 4:18-20)

  • Break free from your default setting.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Don’t revert to your old ways, to your old ways of thinking when times get tough.

The key to change is having a big enough reason to change.

People change when their status quo becomes unacceptable or when the pain of staying the same becomes unbearable!

  • Discover why change is essential.

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”  (Romans 12:2)

  • Change the recording in your mind and stop listening to your critics.

Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)

The greatest transformations take place when people can visualize the breakthrough before it happens.

I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

  • Visualize your new life and breakthrough.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Examples of people who visualized reaching their breakthrough:

  • The Woman with the Issue of bleeding (Matthew 9:20-22)
  • Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52)
  • The Two Blind Men (Matthew 9:27-31)
  • The Woman with a Sick Daughter (Matthew 15:22-28)
