God’s Presence and Your Loneliness

“I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

To relieve loneliness, God gives us …

  • … His plan to live for.

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.” (Genesis 2:15) [ESV]

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.” (Psalm 138:8)

  • … His people to live with.

“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper as his complement.”” (Genesis 2:18)

God places lonely people in families.” (Psalm 68:6)

“When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:10 emphasis added) [GW]

  • … His presence that lives in us.

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and they hid themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”  (Genesis 3:8)

… I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

Four Benefits From knowing That God Is With Me:

  1. He will help me out.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 emphasis added)

  1. He will calm me down.

I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, Lord, make me live in safety.(Psalm 4:8)

“You protect them by your presence from what people plan against them. You shelter them from evil words. (Psalm 31:20) [NCV]

  1. He will cheer me up.

“I keep the Lord before me always.  Because he is close by my side, I will not be hurt.  So I rejoice and am glad. Even my body has hope.” (Psalm 16:8-9 emphasis added) [NCV]

“You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; in Your right hand are eternal pleasures. (Psalm 16:11)

  1. He will see me through.

“I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched  when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you. (Isaiah 43:2)
