“Go into all the world, make disciples of all nations …” (Matthew 28:19)
“Make sure you never pay back one wrong with another wrong. Instead, always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.” (1 Thessalonians 5:15) [NIV]
“Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience …” (Colossians 3:12)
❤️Kindness is love in action! – The Good Samaritan (Luke 10)
Three Typical Attitudes We Have Towards People:
- We keep our distance. (Luke 10:30-31)
- We are curious, but uncaring. (Luke 10:32)
- We may show kindness. (Luke 10:33)
I can become a kinder person by…
- … seeing the needs of people around me.
“But a Samaritan on his journey came up to him, and when he saw the man …” (Luke 10:33)
- … sympathizing with them.
“… and when he saw the man, he had compassion.” (Luke 10:33)
The Key To Kindness:
STOP asking, “What is wrong with them?”
START asking, “What happened to them?”
“Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
- … seizing the opportunity to help.
“ He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine.” (Luke 10:34a)
- … spending whatever it takes.
“34 He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him. When I come back I’ll reimburse you for whatever extra you spend.’” (Luke 10:34-35)
“36 Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” 37 “The one who showed mercy to him,” he said. Then Jesus told him, “Go and do the same.”” (Luke 10:36-37 emphasis added)
