“... for we all stumble in many ways.  If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a mature man who is also able to control his whole body.”  (James 3:2 )

“Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus …” (Romans 8:1 )

Reasons Why Sin Does Not Botch God’s Dream For You:

  • Jesus has already forgiven your past, present and future sins!

“He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.”  (1 John 2:2 )

Propitiation: The word propitiation carries the basic idea of appeasement or satisfaction, specifically toward God. Propitiation is a two-part act that involves appeasing the wrath of an offended person (God) AND being reconciled to him (God).

  • God’s goodness isn’t based on whether you’re good or bad.

“He saved us—not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5 )

  • God’s calling and spiritual gifts are unconditional.

28 Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs, 29 since God’s gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable.’  (Romans 11:28-29 )

1 A person should consider us in this way: as servants of Christ and managers of God’s mysteries. 2 In this regard, it is expected of managers that each one of them be found faithful. 3 It is of little importance to me that I should be evaluated by you or by any human court. In fact, I don’t even evaluate myself. 4 For I am not conscious of anything against myself, but I am not justified by this. The One who evaluates me is the Lord. 5 Therefore don’t judge anything prematurely, before the Lord comes, who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.”  (1 Corinthians 4:1-5 )

What Next?

  1. Generously forgive those who have hurt

14 For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you  as well. 15 But if you don’t forgive people] your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing”  (Matthew 6:14-15 )

  1. Fearlessly face your future with faith.

13 As for you, if you redirect your heart and lift up your hands to Him in prayer— 14 if there is iniquity in your hand, remove it, and don’t allow injustice to dwell in your tents—15 then you will hold your head high, free from fault. You will be firmly established and unafraid. 16 For you will forget your suffering, recalling it only as waters that have flowed by. 17 Your life will be brighter than noonday; its darkness will be like the morning. 18 You will be confident, because there is hope. You will look carefully about and lie down in safety.” (Job 11:13-18 )

18 Do not remember the past events, pay no attention to things of old.  19 Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:18-19 )
