A Parable is a comparison that teaches a moral or religious lesson.
There is only one interpretation of scripture, but there are many applications.
What is your favorite parable:________________________________________.
In John 16:26 , Jesus says that we will ask in my name.
“In that day you will ask in My name. I am not telling you that I will make requests to the Father on your behalf.” (John 16:26 )
In Galatians 3:26 we are called the children of God.
“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith…” (Galatians 3:26 ) [NIV]
When you ask for rain, you better bring your umbrella.
In James 4:1-3 (ESV) “ 1 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions[a] are at war within you?[b] 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.”
In the Disciples Prayer (Lord’s Prayer) in Matthew 6:9-10 we are to pray to the Father, and we are to ask for his will.
“ 9 Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10 )
