But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22 )

“If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’, you are doing well.”  (James 2:8 )

How To  L.O.V.E. Your Neighbor:

L = Love them without an agenda.

28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?”  29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”  (Mark 12:28-31 ) [NKJV]

“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” (1 John 3:18 )

O = Observe and learn about them.

“A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”  (Proverbs 18:24 ) [NKJV]

“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.”  (Romans 12:16 )

V = Volunteer to help them.

“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”  (1 John 3:17 )

“ Serve the Lord with gladness!”  (Psalm 100:2 a)

E = Engage them spiritually.

“And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.”  (Luke 14:23 )

Compel = force, pressure, press, push, urge
