23 As he was approaching the age of 40, he decided to visit his brothers, the Israelites. 24 When he saw one of them being mistreated, he came to his rescue and avenged the oppressed man by striking down the Egyption.  25 He assumed his brothers would understand that God would give them deliverance through him, but they did not understand..  26 The next day he showed up while they were fighting and tried to reconcile them peacefully, saying ‘Men, you are brothers.  Why are you mistreating each other?”  27 “But the one who was mistreating his neighbor pushed him away, v saying: Who appointed you a ruler and judge over us?  28 Do you want to kill me, the same way you killed the Egryptian yesterday?  29 “At this disclosure, Moses fled and became an exile in the land of Midian, where he fathered two sons.  30 After 40 years had passed, an angel appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in the flame of a burning bush.”  (Acts 7:23-30 )

1Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian.  He fed the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.  2 Then the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush.  As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed.  So Moses thought: I must go over and look at this remarkable sight. Why isn’t the bush burning up?  4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from the bush, “Moses, Moses!”  “Here I am,” he answered.  5 Do not come any closer,” He said.  “Remove the sandals from your feet for the palace you are standing is holy ground.””  (Exodus 3:1-5 )

When it looks like it’s too late, learn to ask the right questions:

  • Who am I?11 But Moses asked God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”  12 He answered, “I will certainly be with you …””  (Exodus 3:11-12 )

Gods’ answer: “I will certainly be with you …”

  • Who are you?13 Then Moses asked God, “If I go to the Israelites and say to them: The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ what should I tell them?”  14 God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.  This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.”  (Exodus 3:13-14 )

God’s answer:  “I AM WHO I AM.”

  • What about them?1 Then Moses answered, “What if they won’t believe me and will not obey me but say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”  2 The Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?”  “A staff,” he replied.”  (Exodus 4:1-2 )

Gods’ answer:  “What is that in your hand?”

  • How about this?10 But Moses replied to the Lord, “Please, Lord,  I have never been eloquent-either in the past or recently or since You have been speaking to Your servant-because I am slow and hesitant in speech.”  11 Yahweh said to him, “Who made the human mouth?  Who makes him mute of deaf, seeing or blind?  Is it not I, Yahweh?” (Exodus 4:10-11 )

God’s answer:  I AM in control!
