THE VALLEY OF COVID 19
Walking Through The Valleys of Life – Part 1
April 19, 2020
“1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want … 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:1,4 )
“3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-6 )
As you go through this unprecedented crisis, remember …
- … not everything that you will hear is true.
“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.” (Proverbs 18:2 )
- … this will pass.
“17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.’ (2 Corinthians 4:17-18 )
- … to focus on what is unchanging.
“… But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.” (2 Timothy 1:12 )
- … God is with you.
“ … for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 )
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2 )
- …this is not the end of the story!
“8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed … 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9,14 )
- …God wants you to help others.
“… so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians 1:4 )
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35 )
