17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Try to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes.  18 If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.”  (Romans 12:17-18 )

The Effects of Unsettled Disputes and Arguments:

It blocks my communion with God.

It keeps my prayers from being answered

It prevents me from being joyful

Biblical Steps To Settling Disputes and Arguments:

  • Be the initiator.

23 So if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”  (Matthew 5:23-24 )

  • Be honest about yourself.

3 Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the log in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and look, there’s a log in your eye? 5 Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”  (Matthew 7:3-5 )

  • Be attentive.

“My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear,  slow to speak, and slow to anger …”  (James 1:19 )

  • Be sympathetic.

“Everyone should look out not only for his own interests,  but also for the interests of others.”  (Philippians 2:4 )

  • Be honest, but kind.

“There is one who speaks rashly, like a piercing sword; but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”  (Proverbs 12:18 )

  • Be determined to act respectfully.

“But now you must also put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth.”  (Colossians 3:8 )

  • Be a reconciler.

Reconcile: to reestablish the relationship.

Resolution: to resolve every issues

“The peacemakers are blessed, for they will be called sons of God.”  (Matthew 5:9 )
