“For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.”  (Romans 12:3 )

  • I don’t let them easily offend me.

“A fool’s displeasure is known at once, but whoever ignores an insult is sensible.”  (Proverbs 12:16 )

“A person’s insight gives him patience, and his virtue is to overlook an offense.” (Proverbs 19:11

  • I don’t wait for an apology to forgive them.

12 Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive.”  (Colossians 3:12-13 )

  • I don’t talk about them; I talk to them.

“Whoever conceals an offense promotes love, but whoever gossips about it separates friends.”  (Proverbs 17:9 )

“If your brother sins against you, go and rebuke him in private.” (Matthew 18:15 )

  • I don’t lower myself to their level.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Try to do what is honorable  in everyone’s eyes. 18 If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:17-18 )

“ Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.”  (Romans 12:21 )

That means …

… I don’t get drawn into playing their game.

“As charcoal for embers and wood for fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife.”  (Proverbs 26:21 )

… I don’t give in.

“A fool’s displeasure is known at once, but whoever ignores an insult is sensible.”  (Proverbs 12:16 )

What happens when you do this?

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”  (Proverbs 16:7 )
