What is God’s heart towards prejudice?

“Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality or taking of bribes.” (2 Chronicles 19:7 ) [NLT]

Prejudice: dislike, hostility, or unjust behavior deriving from unfounded opinions.

God hates prejudices because...

  • … it questions His very creation.

“And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place …” (Acts 17:26 )

  • …it disobeys the great commandment.

14For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.”  (Galatians 5:14-15 )

  • ...it is a sin!

“But if you show partiality, you are committing a sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.”  (James 2:9 )

Prejudice is NOT a SKIN problem, it’s a SIN problem!

“Why do you pass judgment on your brother?  Or you, why do you despise your brother?  For we will all stand before the judgement seat of God …”  (Romans 14:10 )

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people …”  (Titus 2:11 a)

  1. We MUST see all people as God

34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, 35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” (Acts 10:34-35 )

  1. We MUST listen to all people with

“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” (James 1:29-20 )

“Respect everyone, love other believers, honor God, and respect the Emperor.” (1 Peter 2:17 ) [GNTD]

  1. We MUST love all people the way Jesus

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”  (John 15:12 )

My primary identity is this: I’m a part of God’s family!

“In this new life, one’s nationality or race or education or social position (or political affiliation) is unimportant; such things mean nothing.  Whether a person has Christ is what matters, and he is equally available to all.”  (Colossians 3:11 ) [LB]
