I Am The Door – Part 2
April 12, 2020
Text: “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” (John 10:9 )
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed …” (Luke 4:18 )
“31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free ... 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:31-32,36 )
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17 )
Jesus Has Risen To Give You Freedom From …
- … the prison of pretending.
“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” (Proverbs 29:25 )
“ And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.” (Luke 16:15 )
- … the prison of unforgiveness.
“… but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:15 )
- … the prison of fear.
“On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” (John 20:19 )
“16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” (1 John 4:16-18 )
“It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open.” (Acts 10:35 ) [MSG]
