1 John 4:16 : So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
Two Questions We Never Ask Ourselves:
1. Why do I avoid a loving God?
Because of the fears I face:
• If God abides in me, I’ll have to give up ______________.
1 Timothy 6:17 : As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
• If God abides in me, I’ll have to become a fanatic.
John 10:10 : The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, I (Jesus) have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.
• If God Abides in me, I’ll lose all my freedom.
John 8:36 : (Jesus) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
2. How much does God love me?
Ephesians 3:17-18 : so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
1 John 4:16 a: So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us
The love that God has for me is...
…wide enough for everyone!
John 3:16 : For God so loved the world
…long enough to last forever!
Jeremiah 31:3 : (God says) I have loved you with an everlasting love
…high enough to be everywhere!
Romans 8:39 : nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
…deep enough to meet my real needs!
Romans 5:8 : but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners,Christ died for us.
