LOVE DOESN’T QUIT!
Love, The Superior Way – Part 14

1 Corinthians 13:7 d: (Love) … endures all things.
Three Things to Consider about Endurance:
- The definition of endurance -
Endurance: a compound word, combining the words for “under” and “to remain, abide, or continue.” In a strict literal sense, the word “endure” means “to remain under.”
Romans 12:9-13 : Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope,be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
- The challenge of endurance -
Romans 8:28 : And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 : give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Psalm 27:14 : Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; and wait for the Lord!
- The motivation for endurance -
- The Gospel of Christ.
Colossians 1:11 : being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;
- The example of Christ.
Hebrews 12:1-3 : Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us throw also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
- The impact it has on people.
2 Timothy 2:10 : Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
