Which Bible character are you most like? I wish I could say I was most like Paul or Peter or maybe King David. But, unfortunately, I think I’m really most like Jonah.

When the Lord called Jonah to go to Nineveh, Jonah ran off in the opposite direction. I did pretty much the same thing when the Lord first called me to preach.

But the Lord was patient with me. Just like Jonah, Jesus used the storms in my life to get my attention. And once I stopped running, He sent me out to do the work he had planned for me long ago. (Ephesians 2:10)

I still work as a software engineer, but for the past 9 years I’ve been serving Sierra Vista by leading small groups and Bible studies and preaching when I’m asked. I graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Divinity in 2020 just as the pandemic hit. And suddenly, we needed an online pastor.

I don’t think many of us realized the opportunity we had to reach people for Jesus online until COVID forced our hand. I am constantly amazed at the blessings we receive as we glorify Jesus online. But the point of online ministry isn’t to bring blessings to us, it’s to bring the good news about Jesus to a hurting world.
