When we think of worship, we typically think of or refer to a prescribed service in a specific setting while singing songs of praise and adoration offered to God. But according to Romans 12:1 , authentic, genuine worship can only begin when we offer ourselves as “living sacrifices”, willing to surrender EVERY area of our lives!
Although it is difficult to truly summarize an all-encompassing definition of worship, it is best described in Luke 10:27 to “…Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and all your mind...”
At Sierra Vista Community Church, we embrace the biblical understanding that we are created for the sole purpose of His pleasure, to bring Him honor, glory and praise, thereby, remembering that the focus of our worship is God and not us! It is proclaiming God’s worth and position, recognizing and acknowledging who He is! We also realize that it is about experiencing and celebrating God’s eternal presence rather than merely manufacturing an emotional event.
John 4:23 says “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the ‘true worshippers’ will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (our heart and mind), for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” It’s been said that the praise and worship of a church is reflective of the spirit and heart of that church.
At Sierra Vista, it is our desire to help develop “true worshippers” of God who are passionate and committed about living a lifestyle of worship and who are devoted to Him extending beyond the confines of a building through the teaching of God’s Word and by the modeling of our lifestyle.
